What is Paleo
The paleo diet is a popular meal plan in which you eat lots of vegetables, meat, poultry and fish but give up all processed foods, grains, dairy, legumes, and sugar.  The goal is to eat more like early humans did, by eating foods that are as close to wild and as unprocessed as possible and to avoid foods that resulted from the invention of agriculture. 

Why Paleo
The idea for the paleo diet grew out of studies* that looked at native people (mainly in Australia) who had food related illnesses.  The studies found that once they returned to their villages and dropped the Western diet for their traditional hunter-gatherer diet, nearly all of them regained their health, lost weight and had very few dental issues.
