Marinate the meat in your preferred seasoning (for traditional shawarma, it's a mix of cumin, coriander, cinnamon, paprika, black pepper and more), then pan-fry or griddle briefly.

Hamburger can contain subcutaneous fat and various trimmings that have been exposed to the environment of the packinghouse and are thus susceptible to contamination. And it may have been treated with ammonia hydroxide gas to destroy pathogens. This is why we only do ground beef.

Option 1: This roast is well-suited to slow braises to create fork-tender, intoxicatingly flavorful meat. Put it in the slow cooker with onions, carrots, root vegetables and some red wine and you'll have a wonderful Shabbat dinner.

Option 2: Rub with your favorite spices and a handful of ground coffee, then cook in a low, slow oven (250-275 F or lower, if you dare!). It's done when the center reaches 125-130 F (Medium/Rare to Rare) Slice thinly and serve with dinner or on a sandwich.
